India To Win, 1.22
India has quite possibly one of the most dangerous batting lineups in T20 cricket history, especially in home conditions.
Abhishek Sharma has 215 recent runs and Axar Patel has 7 wickets in the same span, balancing top-order punch with control.
West Indies is a dangerous T20 side for sure but can struggle against quality spin.

IND vs WI Betting Tips
Abhishek Sharma to score over 25.5 runs
Abhishek Sharma is coming into the T20I series in outstanding form, with more than 1,000 runs in the last 12 months at a strike rate above 190. He is expected to open for India and his aggressive approach makes the 25.5-run line attractive, particularly if India bat first.
West Indies to score under 87.5 runs in their first 10 overs
West Indies have plenty of T20 power, but India's bowling attack should make the first 10 overs difficult. The visitors are likely to rely on Shai Hope and Kamil Pooran to provide the initial platform, while India's new-ball attack will be led by Arshdeep Singh. The 87.5-run line allows West Indies to score at almost 9 an over and still land under the mark. India's ability to use pace and spin through the powerplay and middle overs makes this an attractive option.

The T20I series comes with a very different Indian team from the one that played the ODIs. Shubman Gill, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are not part of the T20I squad, while Shreyas Iyer takes over as captain. India nevertheless have a strong combination of established T20 performers and exciting young players.
West Indies have enough firepower to make this a competitive contest, particularly through Shimron Hetmyer, Rovman Powell, Sherfane Rutherford and Shai Hope. But India's greater depth and familiarity with the Lucknow conditions make them the stronger selection.
Head-to-Head Record
India have won 20 of the 31 T20Is between the teams. The record becomes even more favourable for India in home conditions: they have won nine of the 11 T20Is against West Indies played in India.
West Indies' most recent T20I victory against India came during their 2023 five-match series in the Caribbean and Florida. They won that series 3-2, but India subsequently won their meeting at the 2026 T20 World Cup in Kolkata.
India have also never lost a T20I at the Ekana Stadium, making the venue record another significant factor for the hosts.
India Preview
India begin the T20I series just three days after their Asian Games gold-medal victory. The core of that squad remains available, giving Shreyas Iyer a settled group despite several selection questions.
The major decision concerns the opening combination. Abhishek Sharma is expected to retain his place, while India must decide between Sanju Samson and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi for the other opening position. Ishan Kishan is expected to bat at No. 3 if the probable combination is selected.
Kishan is arguably India's most important batter going into the series. He has scored 1,005 T20I runs in 2026, making him the leading run-scorer in T20Is this year. His Ekana record is particularly impressive, with three fifties and a century in nine T20 innings and an average of 66.57.
The middle order should feature Shreyas Iyer, Tilak Varma, Shivam Dube and Nitish Kumar Reddy, while Axar Patel provides another all-round option.
Jasprit Bumrah has been rested for workload management, leaving Arshdeep Singh to lead the pace attack. The other major bowling selection is expected to come between Mayank Yadav and Prince Yadav, both of whom have strong familiarity with the Lucknow conditions. Kuldeep Yadav is also expected to return to the T20I side.

West Indies Preview
West Indies will hope the momentum from their victory in the third ODI can carry over into the T20I series. Their T20 squad is considerably more explosive than the group used during the ODIs, with Shimron Hetmyer, Rovman Powell and Romario Shepherd joining the side.
Hetmyer is the obvious player to watch. He was the second-highest run-scorer in CPL 2026, making 367 runs in 12 innings at a remarkable strike rate of 197.31. After being given an extended recovery period following the CPL, he now returns to international cricket in excellent form.
Shai Hope will captain the side and is expected to keep wicket, although his fitness will need monitoring after he suffered cramps during the third ODI and missed training on the eve of the T20I.
Jewel Andrew suffered a finger injury during the third ODI and has been replaced as cover by Amir Jangoo. If Andrew is unavailable, Kamil Pooran could make his T20I debut after an impressive CPL season in which he scored 273 runs at a strike rate of around 160.
Predicted Playing XI

- Kamil Pooran
- Shimron Hetmyer
- Rovman Powell
- Sherfane Rutherford

Toss Prediction
he toss winner is likely to prefer chasing in Lucknow, although the decision will depend on the condition of the centre pitch.
India have never lost a T20I at Ekana, while their strong chasing record against West Indies in India provides further encouragement. The visitors, meanwhile, may prefer to know exactly what target is required given the considerable batting power in their middle order.
With rain having affected training on Monday but no rain currently forecast for match day, weather should not force a significant change in strategy.
Pitch Report and Weather Conditions
Pitch No. 5, the centre strip at Ekana, will be used for the opening T20I. It is a mixed red-and-black-soil surface.
The pitch should offer a better batting contest than some of the slower surfaces historically associated with the venue. Runs came freely at Ekana during IPL 2026, and the expectation is for another reasonably high-scoring T20I.
India's familiarity with the ground is nevertheless a significant advantage. Ishan Kishan's record here is particularly noteworthy, with three fifties and a century from nine T20 innings.
There has been rain around Lucknow in the build-up to the match, which affected both teams' practice sessions, but there is no rain forecast for Tuesday.
Our Prediction
India have the stronger overall T20 record and enter the series with considerable momentum after winning the Asian Games gold medal. They also have an exceptional record against West Indies in India, winning nine of the 11 T20Is between the sides in the country.
West Indies have more firepower than their recent record in India suggests. Hetmyer's CPL form, Powell's finishing ability and Romario Shepherd's all-round skills give them the tools to challenge India. However, their record in India remains poor, and they have won only one of their last 10 T20Is in the country.
