India To Win, 1.79
New Zealand has won the previous two T20 internationals but the ODI format for both teams is very different and we don't think past results matter.
India's batting riches are unmatched with Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli providing a formidable top order, while KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer add stability and middle-order experience.
The bowling attack for India is a bit mixed with the experience of Siraj and Kuldeep expected to pair alongside a much younger bowling unit.

NZ vs IND Betting Tips
Shubman Gill Individual Total Fours - Over 3.5
Gill is the highest ranked ODI batter in the world for a reason. he is incredibly consistent and is able to find the gaps during the powerplay with ease. We back him to make a big one.
Each Team to Score Under 4.5 Runs in the First Over
We think this is an excellent market that offers some incredible value. The white ball can have a bit of movement early and the added time allows the batters to just take a bit of time. Well worth the risk.

New Zealand and India begin their three-match ODI series at Eden Park in Auckland on November 4, with India carrying momentum after winning the preceding T20I series 3-2. However, the hosts will be keen to make a strong start in familiar conditions. New Zealand's preparations have been disrupted by injuries, including the late loss of Devon Conway, while India will look to carry their recent form into the 50-over format.
Bettors should watch how India’s in-form top order stacks up against New Zealand’s varied seam-spin mix as the market firms up on prices you can track via our latest cricket odds overview.
Head-to-Head Record
India shade the rivalry 3-2 across the last five meetings, indicating a marginal but meaningful edge. The sequence shows momentum swinging both ways, yet India have found answers more often in recent clashes.
New Zealand Preview
New Zealand's preparations have suffered a significant setback with Devon Conway ruled out of the opening ODI after a collision with Matt Henry during training at Eden Park. Conway took a blow to the head, was taken to hospital, and scans confirmed concussion.
Tim Seifert, who was initially considered for only the first two matches, has now been added to the squad for the entire series and is expected to replace Conway at the top of the order. The hosts are already without Mark Chapman, who has a hamstring injury, and Rachin Ravindra, who is recovering from a shoulder issue.
That leaves greater responsibility on Daryl Mitchell, Will Young, Glenn Phillips and Michael Bracewell to provide stability and scoring power.
Mitchell will be central to New Zealand's chances, particularly given his ability to anchor an innings while accelerating when required. Phillips and Bracewell provide attacking options in the middle order, while captain Mitchell Santner offers control with the ball and useful lower-order runs.
Matt Henry reportedly passed concussion checks after the training-ground collision and was said to be feeling fine, although his availability should be confirmed when the official XI is announced. Kyle Jamieson, Jacob Duffy and Nathan Smith provide further pace options. New Zealand will hope Eden Park offers some bounce and assistance for their seamers, but their fielding needs to improve after dropped catches proved costly during the T20I series.
Predicted Playing XI
- Tim Seifert (wk)
- Will Young
- Henry Nicholls
- Daryl Mitchell
- Glenn Phillips
- Michael Bracewell
- Mitchell Santner (c)
- Nathan Smith

India Preview
India head into the ODI series with confidence after winning the T20I contest, although the change in format will require a different approach. Having a top order with Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, and then followed by KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer gives India massive batting advantage.
However, that is where some challenges start to come in. Nitish Kumar Reddy and Naman Dhir can be expected to slot into the next two spots taking the role of all-rounders to add flexibility. India has the option of playing Ruturaj Gaikwad or even the in-form Ishan Kishan as an extra batter but that would mean sacrificing a genuine bowling option.
We don't think there is any doubt that Mohammad Siraj and Arshdeep Singh will play the first ODI. Axar Patel should also find a place in the playing eleven even though his bowling has been below par. That leaves two positions between Gurnoor Brar, Auqib Nabi, and Kuldeep yadav.
Looking at the venue, Eden Park, we think Gurnoor Brar will play with perhaps an extra batting option to help provide a buffer at Eden Park.
India must be disciplined with their lengths because Eden Park's short straight boundaries can make even slightly inaccurate bowling expensive. If their batters negotiate the new ball and their bowlers execute their plans, India have the balance to start the series with a win.
Predicted Playing XI
- Rohit Sharma (C)
- Shubman Gill
- Virat Kohli
- Shreyas Iyer
- Lokesh Rahul (WK)
- Naman Dhir
- Nitish Kumar Reddy
- Axar Patel
- Mohammed Siraj
- Gurnoor Brar
- Arshdeep Singh
Toss Prediction
The captain winning the toss may prefer to bowl first, particularly with dew expected to be a factor later in the evening.
Pitch Report and Weather Conditions
Eden Park traditionally offers some bounce, and Santner has indicated that New Zealand would welcome a surface with a little extra pace and assistance for the seamers. The short straight boundaries will make scoring opportunities plentiful, while the swirling wind could make catching difficult. Dew was prominent during the T20I series and may again affect the second innings, especially with the match scheduled for a 3 PM local start.
The forecast points to cool conditions around 16 degrees Celsius with high humidity and broken clouds, plus a gentle breeze. That setup should aid swing early before easing for stroke play as the ball ages.

Our Prediction
We expect a tight contest, but India carry a slight edge through a red-hot batting lineup that excels at ODI cricket. Their bowling is a bit of a concern but with New Zealand challenged by some injury concerns, India may sense an opportunity to start this series with a win.
