South Africa's bowling attack has, however, been weakened by injuries.

Kagiso Rabada was ruled out before the squad was finalised. Ottneil Baartman subsequently suffered a hamstring injury and was replaced by Duan Jansen, who had impressed during South Africa's recent tour of Namibia. Lungi Ngidi then suffered another hamstring injury and was replaced by Nqobani Mokoena.

The conditions will also be important. Durban and Johannesburg can offer assistance to fast bowlers, while Potchefstroom presents a different challenge. South Africa's familiarity with home conditions could keep the series competitive, particularly if their leading batters perform consistently.
