IPL 2026 Stats FAQ
Rajasthan Royals opener Vaibhav Sooryavanshi scored the most runs in IPL 2026, finishing with 776 runs in 16 innings to secure the Orange Cap.
The Gujarat Titans South African fast bowler Kagiso Rabada claimed the Purple Cap by taking 29 wickets across 17 innings.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi led the tournament with an astonishing 72 sixes for Rajasthan Royals, clear of any other batsman.
While KL Rahul hit the 2026 season-high of 152, the all-time IPL record remains held by west Indian Chris Gayle, who smashed an unbeaten 175 runs for Royal Challengers Bengaluru against Pune Warriors India in 2013
Due to the fielding restrictions in the initial Power Play overs, opening batsmen have a distinct advantage of being able to play on the up with a lower risk of being caught. They also have a longer time in which to score their runs. As such openers often end up with both the best scores and strike rates, but that is not to say that a batter lower down the order cannot make a major impact.
