Kotambi Stadium - officially the Baroda Cricket Association Stadium - in Vadodara, India is one of the world's newest international cricket grounds, with a major revamp finished in 2024. It then hosted an ODI series between India and West Indies women's teams.

Today's Match Predictions

Selected as the new home ground of the Women's Premier League side Gujarat Giants - captained by the Australian star Beth Mooney - the Vadodara stadium seems set to become one of the key venues in the women's game.

A big capacity of 40,000 allows a large number of supporters to take in matches at the new stadium, which is described as being state-of-the-art.

The Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara is set to host some of the biggest names from recent history, with a handful of matches of the International Masters League being played here.

Players such as the Indian icon Sachin Tendulkar, Brian Lara and Kumar Sangakkara are set to feature at a venue that Sheetal Mehta, treasurer of the Baroda Cricket Association, described in a statement about the veterans tournament as "one of the best venues in the country now".

Our OCBsports guide to this ground also includes the Kotambi Stadium pitch report so read on to get the scoop.

Kotambi Stadium Pitch Report

With Kotambi Stadium having only opened its doors relatively recently, it is hard to get the full picture on the state of the surface. The women's international series between India and West Indies had some high scores, which suggests that Vadodara could become a great place to bat.

Hayley Kristen Matthews was able to score a remarkable 106 runs off 109 balls in one of the games, although the West Indies skipper was not able to guide her team to a vital victory. This did, however, put her back in the top 10 of the ICC Women's Batting Rankings.

Harleen Deol was able to record her maiden ODI century when she hit 115 in the same series and Smriti Mandhana and Pratika Rawal combined to record a 110-run opening stand for India.

The Kotambi Stadium pitch report will become clearer in the coming weeks and months, with the brand new Gujarat venue set to host an increasing number of matches in the near future.

So far, batting first has seemed like the best way to go at the toss in games at Kotambi Stadium but as more matches take place here that could be set to change.

FAQs

Limited data is available given the fact Kotambi Stadium only recently opened. But its average first innings score in T20 matches to date is just over 150.

Scoring suggests a good pitch at the stadium, with Hayley Matthews having scored a run-a-ball century in a recent women's ODI match, with a flat surface for batters to exploit.

Gujarat is known for its hot and dry summers, so rain is unlikely to affect many matches here.

Recent matches played at the grounds indicate that it is a batter-friendly surface, with the chance to pile up big scores.
